Testimonials for Mediterranean Style Architecture

"My relationship with Edwards-Pitman goes back 50 years… Our first project was in 1958, so I have had a long and wonderful relationship with the firm. They have designed and renovated over 20 buildings over the last five decades, all of which embody the charm and distinction of Santa Barbara style. I value their creativity and work ethic as well as their robust knowledge of the specific Santa Barbara city codes and regulation. I will continue to look to them in the future as my business endeavors grow and change."

Michael Towbes ~ CEO and Founder, Towbes Group

"For over 30 years, it has been our pleasure to provide structural engineering services to Edwards Pitman Architects for projects like the Santa Barbara Museum of Art Addition and the new corporate headquarters for Penfield & Smith Civil Engineers. Their sensitivity to the historic nature of Santa Barbara building architecture and their meticulous attention to details have resulted in many outstanding projects in our community. We are proud to have played a part in the design of these buildings."

"Richard Redmond has been my primary architect for over 25 years. He is not only creative but practical, and I rely on him for his expertise on both my commercial & residential projects. I admire his attention to detail and look to him to solve complex design challenges, city code limitations and client concerns. Over the years we have established a solid and trusting relationship making my business endeavors easy to pursue knowing I have him to depend on for my architectural needs."

"The Santa Barbara Historical Museum has depended upon Edwards-Pitman Architects’ architectural services since 1967, and it’s not just because the firm is located next door to the Museum! Our past association with John Pitman was very rewarding in our shared appreciation for the history and style of this beautiful city. The staff at EP has always responded professionally to our specific needs and provided the expertise to accomplish the best we could hope for in upgrading our facility to fulfill the requirements of a modern museum, while preserving the historical character of the building. We are also proud of the sensitivity the staff of EP utilizes in assisting the Museum in its conservation efforts of its other historic structures on this site and other locations in Santa Barbara."

David Bisol ~ Executive Director, Santa Barbara Historical Museum

"In 2001, Penfield & Smith decided to pursue the development of a new office building in downtown Santa Barbara, California. Edwards-Pitman Architects were chosen to develop the concept for the building because of their knowledge of the unique and very stringent architectural requirements of the City. Subsequently, they developed a building plan that met our space programming needs and was an architectural masterpiece. They were able to process the project for entitlements through the City very expeditiously. They prepared construction drawings, obtained building permits and worked with us and our contractor to complete the new building in September 2006. We believe we now own one of the nicest office buildings in all of Santa Barbara. We greatly appreciate the service we received from Edwards-Pitman Architects to accomplish this feat. It was our privilege to work with John Pitman on one of the last buildings he was able to design. We would definitely recommend Edwards-Pitman Architects to others seeking the design of a first-class office building."

Danny G. Wynn ~ President, Penfield & Smith

"Edwards-Pitman has been a key part of the growth of our facilities. The firm has basically designed our administrative, operations and executive facilities for Montecito Bank & Trust, including the main branch initial teller line and remodel, helping maintain the original look and design. E-P also did two remodels of our Montecito Branch going back to the late 1970s. EP has been with Montecito Bank & Trust from our beginning and provides us with professional services for all of our facility design needs."

Clay Decker ~ Vice President, Montecito Bank & Trust

"Edwards-Pitman has provided all of my architectural services since 1986. Richard Redmond was the architect for the construction of the building and tenant improvements at 621 N. Milpas for SB Plumbing Supplies and 3660 State St. for Wachovia Securities. The 3700 State St. building was a challenge that required his expertise for a total exterior remodel and lobby addition to an existing building. Richard also redesigned the interior of my daughter’s Santa Barbara condo and a townhouse vacation condo in Hawaii. He has the patience to work with the difficult requirements and staff at the City of Santa Barbara all while providing an outstanding design at an affordable price."

Art Bosse ~ Property Owner

"Edwards-Pitman created a beautiful and effective design for my home remodel. Richard Redmond listened to all our requirements and quickly turned around a plan with incredible attention to detail for a great price. It has been a pleasure working with Richard and an even greater pleasure living in our now beautiful home. Thank you..."

Jessica Schaeman ~ Interior Designer

"Frank Schipper Construction Company has been associated with Edwards-Pitman Architects for over 40 years. I knew and admired John Pitman in the industry as well as a being a personal friend. We cooperated on so many projects in Santa Barbara it would be a list too long to include here – notable in my mind were many large projects at UCSB, the Ty Warner Sea Center, the Penfield & Smith building on Victoria Street, and many building projects for Michael Towbes. I have enjoyed working with the entire staff at Edwards-Pitman Architects who have always adhered to the highest professional standards in architectural design and we kept on track together until we had, in many instances, an award-winning product. We look forward to being in business together for a long time to come."

"Richard Redmond understands light and proportion. Our home in Santa Barbara, California is an elegant combination of creamy textured walls and rich golden woods. It's Mediterranean style is timeless. It was designed to maximize one of the most stunning views of city and ocean and after eleven years in this house, we still wake up every morning and consider ourselves lucky to be living in this house."

Laura Kirkley ~ Professional Organizer

"We have always found Edwards-Pitman Architects to be among the best. Their knowledge of local building codes and city regulations is of great value. The clarity of their plans and practical solutions to problems has always made Edwards-Pitman our natural choice when we have needed architectural services. Edwards - Pitman designed our first building in 1988. When we outgrew that facility in 2000 there was no hesitation in selecting Edwards - Pitman to design our new building."

Tom Mathews ~ Vice President, Architectural Millwork

"Recently I had a major project involving the relocation of an historic house in the city of Santa Barbara. The project involved removing the top story of a 130-year old Victorian house, moving it across a freeway bridge and reassembling it on a lot on the west side of Santa Barbara. It was a leap of faith to attempt a project so complex. We also included in the plan a carriage house of three bedrooms and one bath with parking for three cars. My greatest challenge was the bureaucracy of the City and my greatest asset was choosing Edwards-Pitman Architects. Were it not for the competent staff of Edwards-Pitman Architects, my family would have been adrift on a sea of trouble. I completed my project and my family is now living in the house. Choosing E-P made all the difference. I will always be grateful for the help I received from them and I am proud to recommend them. Thanks, again."
